BACKGROUND

BSC MARINE GROUP
 
 
Following a busy year of construction, Brisbane Ship Constructions Pty Ltd, a BSC Marine Group company, delivered its first vessel, MSY AUSSIE LEGEND, to Sydney Harbour cruise operator Sail Venture Cruises in 1995.

 

Aussie-Legend-and-Harbour-B.jpg (10460 bytes) MSY AUSSIE LEGEND; a 26 metre all aluminium motor sailing catamaran in survey to USL 1C is presently owned by Matilda Cruises and operates regular harbour cruises, functions and events on Sydney Harbour.

 

BSC Marine Group at the time of it's formation in 1994 had a significant body of collective experience in boat building (Aluminium; Composites and Steel).

 

Australian Yacht Builders Pty Ltd launched MSY - The Other Woman, a 192' luxury mega yacht in 1991. 

 

 

 

Michael Hollis, Managing Director

Michael founded BSC Marine Group in 1994 following some four years as Managing Director of Australian Yacht Builders Pty Ltd (1990 - 1994), a company responsible for building the world's largest privately owned yacht at the time; MSY The Other Woman.

Since establishing BSC Marine Group, the company has completed over 40 new constructions; including fast ferries; patrol boat; sail cruisers; crew boats and special purpose boats. The company has developed project management know-how and capability to which provides for the company's continued to growth in the scale and complexity of projects it is able to undertake. 

From time of inception of the Group, Mr Hollis has committed BSC to research and development as a means to achieving it's aims of quality assurance and excellence in design. Since 1998 the company has built seven new in-house BSC designs as prototypes for testing and review of performance and efficiency; seakeeping and engineering systems. Based upon tested and proven hulls, designs have been developed for specialist applications including fast displacement and semi-displacement catamaran ferries (smooth water to open water); high to very high speed monohull patrol boats; and displacement monohulls - in length ranges typically from 20 metres to 60 metres.

Michael was admitted as a member of The Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers (SNAME) in 1998. In 1987 Michael obtained his post-graduate masters degree in Business Administration (MBA) from Macquarie University Graduate School of Management, Sydney. In 1984, Michael was admitted as a member of the Australian Institute of Chartered Accountants.

Mr Hollis has been an active member of various industry associations over the years and was a director of the Australian Shipbuilding Association from 1999 to 2004.
