Australian Yacht Builders Pty Ltd launched MSY - The Other Woman, a 192' luxury mega yacht in 1991.

Michael Hollis, Managing Director, founded BSC Marine Group in 1994. Prior to that he was Managing Director of Australian Yacht Builders Pty Ltd (1990-1994) a wholly USA owned company responsible for building the world's largest privately owned yacht at the time (192'); MSY The Other Woman which yacht won a number of international awards for excellence.

Since 1995 the Group has specialised in custom projects, predominantly commercial, including fast ferries; patrol vessels; sail cruisers; offshore vessels and special purpose vessels. The company has specialist project management capability and skills which does not limit the scale and complexity of projects it is able to undertake.

From inception, Michael has committed BSC to design excellence and to world best practice in manufacturing systems and sustainable quality assurance.

In R&D since 1998 the company has built thirteen (13) new design prototypes for testing and review of performance and efficiency; seakeeping and engineering systems, which prototypes are all in commercial services. Following prototype testing, scaled best of breed designs have been developed for specialist applications including fast displacement and semi-displacement catamaran ferries (smooth water to open water); high to very high speed monohull patrol boats; and displacement monohulls - in length ranges typically from 20 metres to 60 metres.

Since 1995 the company has committed to in-house development and improvement of software for its project manufacturing systems and document control. This networked software, named ShipShape, brings together all facets of the business and has been the backbone of our project management systems since 1996.

Michael has been a member of The Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers (SNAME) since 1998 and in 1987 obtained his post-graduate masters degree in Business Administration (MBA) from Macquarie University Graduate School of Management, Sydney.

Michael has been an active member of various industry associations over the years and was a director of the Australian Shipbuilding Association from 1999 to 2004.
