Brisbane Ship Constructions delivered "MSY - Aussie Legend" to Sail Venture Cruises / Matilda Cruises in November, 1995; completing this unique custom project on time and within six months of contract signing. Aussie Legend is a Crowther designed 70 tonne lightship all aluminium 26 metre x 12.5 metre beam motor sailing catamaran designed for harbour dining, functions, and sightseeing cruises. The vessel has a fully equipped commercial galley, complete with walk-in freezer, for catering in restaurant mode for up to 200 guests. On the main deck the entertainment facilities include a bar and dance floor. Aussie Legend commenced cruise and charter operations on Sydney Harbour in early December 1995, as scheduled, in time for the busy festive season. Since then she has featured prominently in all major harbour occasions, including being an official Sydney Olympic yacht racing vantage to officiating at the start of the annual Sydney to Hobart race.
MV - QUEENSLANDER I, a 25 metre BSC design passenger vessel for coastal passenger ferry operations. (BSC Design Ref. D05_24c) was launched in July 2000. The vessel is a 192 seat passenger ferry designed to Lloyds Register SSC G2 and under survey to USL 1C restricted to 50 nautical miles offshore. The vessel is of all aluminium construction, is powered by two Volvo 163P engines at 680hp each, and has a full load service speed of 26 knots. The vessel is operated by Fitzroy Island Ferries operating transfers to the island out of Cairns. The vessel proved most successful for Fitzroy Island Ferries providing both a highly efficient and good seakeeping vessel. In April 2002 Queenslander I was sold to South Sea Island Cruises, Fiji and BSC undertook a substantial re-paint and refit of the vessel prior to delivery to its new owners.
MV - SUZANNE; a 26 metre prototype BSC design was launched in August 1999 and delivered to Fantasea Cruises Pty Ltd for inter-island transfers operating out of Shute Harbour, Whitsundays. In the design of this 26 metre prototype vessel, particular emphasis was placed on achieving an appropriate balance between seakeeping characteristics and efficiency of form; the latter being achieved with a round bilge displacement form and a length / beam ratio having both low resistance and low wash characteristics. The vessel was designed structurally to Lloyds Register SSC G2 classification and built to USL 1D Survey having an LOA of 26.4 metres, a beam of 7.8 metres and under dual NSW and Queensland Survey for 150 passengers and three crew. Comfortable interior and exterior amenities provide maximum versatility to an operator; with interior features including a bar / kiosk and external features including an upper / observation deck. The design has proved a versatile 1D (partially smooth water) vessel with good tunnel clearance and reserve buoyancy allowing normal service in conditions well beyond that of previous generation low wash vessels whilst retaining its minimal environmental impact characteristics - through low wash; low emission engines; and Lectra-san environmentally friendly toilets. In a fully loaded condition the vessel achieves a maximum service speed in excess of 26 knots with 2 x 490 bhp Caterpillar 3196 electronic main engines. MV - Suzanne, is presently owned by Transtego operating on the Tego River in Lisbon, Portugal. In March 1998 the GROUP completed and delivered four (4) x 23 metre x 42 tonne high speed (30 knot) all aluminium high speed Patrol vessels for export to the Vietnam Department of Customs. The vessels were built under survey to both Bureau Veritas and to USL 2B. All four vessels were built simultaneously and completed within fourteen months, including an extended trials period.
In late 1995 Brisbane Ship Constructions was awarded a competitive contract to build six high speed low wash passenger ferries ("CityCats") for the City of Brisbane. The vessels have an LOA of 26metres, beam of 7.2 metres and a carrying capacity of 130 passengers. The vessels have all aluminium hulls and composite superstructures and operate at an average full load service speed of 21-22 knots with 2 x 367 bhp Scania main engines.
The Citycat service was officially commenced with all six vessels in service by November 1996 and continues to be a highly successful and internationally acclaimed success - proudly showing off Brisbane from it's best vantage to over three million city visitors (total passengers over 6.5 million) during its short history to date. The GROUP received an order for two further 26 metre "CityCats" from Brisbane Transport in 1998; one being delivered in September 1998 and the second delivered in January 1999.
V16 was a BSC design 10.5 metre glass bottom reef viewing. (Design ref. BSC D19_9m) The 22 passenger plus 1 crew vessel has four (4) watertight compartments - well in excess of the most stringent subdivision rules for a vessel of this size. The departure from normal practice to designing a vessel of this size follows our commitment to eco-tourism operators and also demonstrates our non-compromising approach to even the smallest of projects. MV Delphi is a BSC design 19 metre fast (28-30 knot) monohull workboat. (Design ref. BSC D20a_18.5m) The vessel is designed to Lloyd's Register SSC G3 and under flag survey to USL 2B. The vessel is owned by astute owners, Marine Deisel Traders. V18 was a BSC design 10m Rail Punt for Fantasea Cruises in 1E survey for 2 crew plus 22 passengers for transfers from a mothership to Whitehaven Beach and/or from Helicopters to Reefworld on the Barrier Reef. |
